Every order confirmed by Data Technology FZCO is packed at our premises in Dubai Airport Free Zone (DAFZA) and collected there by DHL, UPS or FedEx. This page sets out how we pack, book and document shipments of screens and spare parts, and what to check when the parcel arrives.
Carriers we use
| Carrier | Tracking number format | Where to track |
|---|---|---|
| DHL | 10-digit waybill number | dhl.com |
| UPS | 18-character number beginning with 1Z | ups.com |
| FedEx | 12-digit tracking number | fedex.com |
We book the carrier suited to the destination, parcel weight and your preference. If you prefer one carrier, say so when you request your quotation. Ask sales if you want shipments booked on your own carrier account.
When your order ships
Orders are typically dispatched after we have sent the order confirmation and the agreed payment has arrived. Once the shipment is booked you receive the carrier's tracking number. Carrier collections do not take place on UAE public holidays, and transit times quoted on the carriers' websites are estimates that exclude customs clearance in the destination country.
Orders containing several part numbers are shipped together unless sales has agreed a different arrangement with you.
How screens are packed
Screen assemblies are the most fragile item we ship: a crack in the glass or a crease in the flex cable makes the part worthless. Screens are therefore packed flat with cushioning between layers in a rigid outer carton, and service pack parts stay in their manufacturer packaging. For pallet quantities, contact sales for a freight quotation before confirming the order.
Customs, duties and documents
Because the goods leave a UAE free zone, every shipment is an export. You are the importer in the destination country and pay any import duty, VAT and clearance charges that the carrier or the customs broker collects there. To avoid delays:
- Give us your company's importer identification where your country requires one (for example an EORI number in the European Union and the United Kingdom) when you confirm the order.
- Check that the delivery address is a street address with a telephone number; express carriers do not deliver to post office boxes.
- Tell us if your customs authority needs a specific description or certificate. Classification depends on the part; the HS code we use appears on the commercial invoice, and you should confirm it with your customs broker.
Each shipment travels with a commercial invoice showing part numbers, quantities, country of origin and HS codes, and a packing list that matches the order confirmation. Batteries, where listed in the catalogue, are subject to the carriers' lithium battery rules and may be restricted for some destinations; check with sales before ordering them.
Collection and your own forwarder
Trade customers in the UAE, and customers who consolidate purchases with a freight forwarder in Dubai, can ask sales about handover at DAFZA. Goods leaving the free zone need a gate pass, so collections are arranged in advance with sales rather than on arrival.
When the parcel arrives
- Inspect the outer carton before signing. If it is crushed, wet or re-taped, note the damage on the carrier's delivery record or refuse the parcel.
- Count the part numbers against the packing list and keep the carton and inner packing until you have checked every item.
- Report shortages, wrong part numbers or transport damage to us by e-mail, with photographs, promptly after delivery and within the period stated on your order confirmation or delivery note, so that we can open a claim with the carrier.
- Parts that fail a bench test are handled under the dead-on-arrival procedure in our Terms & Conditions.
Questions about a shipment
Write to osiya@datatechno.net or call +971 52 923 7659 with your order number and the tracking number. Carrier tracking pages are updated at each scan; if tracking stops updating for longer than the carrier's quoted transit time, contact us rather than the carrier, as only the shipper can open a trace.
