LCD With Frame vs Without Frame

Most current Samsung models appear twice in our catalogue. The Galaxy S24 Ultra 5G in Titanium Yellow is GH82-33396C/33386C; the same panel without the chassis is GH82-33385A/33402A, listed simply as (no Frame). Repair shops ask us every week which one to stock. The answer depends on the state of the customer's frame, the skills on your bench and how many colour variants you want to hold.

What a with-frame screen includes

A with-frame (chassis) assembly is the glass, panel and digitizer already laminated into the metal middle frame at the factory; the display flex is routed and the frame adhesive cured before the pack is sealed. The technician moves the motherboard, battery, sub-board, cameras and speakers from the old frame into the new one and fits the back cover. What else sits in the frame varies by model, and we flag the exceptions in the product name: GH82-24536C, the Galaxy S21 5G in Phantom White, is marked (no Camera), while the Galaxy Z Flip 5G inner display exists as GH82-23414A/23351A/27356A (with Camera) and GH82-27359A (no Camera). On entry-level models the frame type is explicit, as in GH81-17774A Galaxy A20s Black (with Frame), and the frame can even differ by motherboard revision: the Galaxy A01 is GH81-18209A with the small connector and GH81-18597A with the big connector.

What a without-frame screen includes

A frameless part, tagged (no Frame) and often called OCTA in the trade, is the display panel with digitizer and flex only. It is fitted into the phone's existing frame after the broken panel has been removed. Because the frame stays with the phone, the colour of the device no longer matters: one frameless number covers every colour. That is why GH82-33385A/33402A has no colour in its name while the with-frame S24 Ultra is split into GH82-33396A, B and C. Frameless listings for current models include GH82-33286A (Galaxy S24 5G), GH82-33332A (Galaxy S24 Plus 5G), GH82-31236A / GH96-16022A (Galaxy A54 5G), GH82-34224A (Galaxy A35/A55 5G) and the foldable inner displays GH82-32950A (Galaxy Z Fold 5) and GH82-32951A (Galaxy Z Flip 5). The frame adhesive is not always part of the pack: for the Galaxy S23 Ultra 5G, Samsung supplies the rework adhesive and sticker kit under a separate number, GH82-30558A / GH81-24724A, which we list next to the frameless display GH82-31247A/33783A / GH96-15524A.

A third route: frameless panel plus a new middle frame

When the chassis is bent and you prefer to build the assembly yourself, combine the frameless display with a separate middle frame. For the Galaxy A34 5G we list GH82-31235A (no Frame) alongside the middle frames GH82-31312A Black, GH82-31312B Silver and GH82-31312C Light Green, each also available as (CHN ORG), the original part sourced through the China market channel. The result is a complete original assembly built on your bench, with the frame colour chosen per job.

A with-frame job is longer in disassembly, but every step is low-risk. A frameless job has fewer steps, yet three of them can destroy the new part. We do not publish bench times because they depend on model, tooling and technician: a shop that fits frameless Samsung panels every day will beat a with-frame swap, a shop that does it once a month usually will not.

What can go wrong with a frameless fit

  • A new panel cracked by pressing it onto residual adhesive or onto a frame that is no longer flat.
  • Tearing or creasing the display flex while feeding it through the frame opening.
  • Light bleed, lifted corners or touch dead zones on a frame that was bent in the original drop.
  • Dust trapped under the panel during lamination, visible on light backgrounds.
  • Loss of the water-resistance seal if the adhesive is not continuous around the perimeter.
  • No cosmetic reset: scratches and dents on the old frame remain, which some customers notice only after collection.

What is actually in the service pack

  • A sealed anti-static bag with the manufacturer label: part number, colour and barcode.
  • The display with the factory protective film still applied.
  • With-frame packs: adhesive already applied between panel and frame. Back-cover adhesive is not included unless the listing says so.
  • Frameless packs: panel adhesive is model-dependent; where Samsung sells the kit separately we list it, as with the S23 Ultra kit above.
  • Batteries only when the name says so: GH81-29802A Galaxy A04s LCD with Touch in Black is marked +Btry, GH82-13388A Galaxy S7 Edge is listed as LCD + Touch + Battery, and in the other direction 0235ANTF Honor 400 Lite 5G is marked (Without btry).

Which one to order

  • Frame bent, corners dented, side keys damaged, or the customer expects a like-new phone: with frame.
  • Insurance or corporate repairs that must be documented as a complete factory assembly: with frame.
  • Frame intact, technician experienced with lamination, and you want one number for all colours: without frame.
  • Foldables: the inner display is supplied frameless (GH82-32950A, GH82-32951A), so plan the work accordingly.
  • Entry-level A0x and M series: with frame is usually the only service pack form, so order by model code and connector type.

If you are not sure whether a frameless version exists for a model, send the model code to our sales team through the contact page. We confirm both numbers and quote them together.
